Rec Soccer

Rec soccer (recreational soccer) is designed for players of all skill levels and focuses on fun, learning, and inclusivity. It provides a less competitive environment, typically with local practices and games, making it ideal for beginners or those playing for enjoyment.

Travel Soccer

Travel soccer is more competitive, involving players who have developed strong foundational skills and seek to improve at a higher level. Travel teams compete in regional or state leagues and tournaments, requiring greater commitment in terms of time, travel, and training intensity.

We offer one of the best soccer training in the Oxon Hill area.

Oxon Hill Soccer Club (OHSC) will offer both Rec and Travel training for players aged 5-18 in the Fall of 2025, We cater to both recreational and competitive players. Our program includes:

Skill Development: Focused on building core soccer skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending.

Tactical Training: Teaching players game awareness, positioning, and strategic play.

Physical Fitness: Enhancing players' endurance, strength, agility, and overall athletic performance.

Character Building: Developing personal responsibility, teamwork, and leadership qualities.

Winter Soccer Program — Oxon Hill Soccer Club

Program Overview

Oxon Hill Soccer Club’s Winter Soccer Program is a structured, age-appropriate training and development initiative running from January through March. The program combines technical skill work, tactical understanding, physical conditioning, and small-sided competitive play in a safe, supportive indoor or turf environment. Sessions are led by licensed coaches with a curriculum designed to accelerate individual player development and team cohesion during the offseason.

Who It’s For

  • Boys and girls ages 6–18, grouped by age and ability.

  • Recreational and competitive players seeking focused winter training.

  • Players returning from injury or looking to build fitness before spring season.

Session Structure

  • Frequency: 1–2 sessions per week (options for standard and intensive tracks).

  • Duration: 60–90 minutes per session depending on age group.

  • Components:

    • Warm-up and mobility

    • Technical skill stations (ball mastery, passing, receiving)

    • Tactical drills (positional play, transition, pressing)

    • Small-sided games and controlled scrimmages

    • Strength, speed, and conditioning elements appropriate to age

    • Cool-down and coach feedback

Coaching & Staffing

  • Licensed head coaches and trained assistants.

  • Emphasis on coach-to-player ratios that ensure attention and feedback.

  • Periodic coach-led video review and individual progress notes.

  • Injury prevention focus: warm-ups, movement screening, and workload monitoring.

Benefits of the Winter Program

  1. Maintain and Elevate Technical Skills

  • Continuous touch repetition in winter prevents regression. Players refine first touch, dribbling, passing accuracy, and shooting mechanics through high-quality, focused drills.

  1. Accelerate Tactical Understanding

  • Winter provides uninterrupted time to teach positional responsibilities, team shape, and game phases. Small-sided play accelerates decision-making under pressure and improves situational awareness.

  1. Improve Physical Preparedness

  • Age-appropriate strength, speed, and conditioning work reduces injury risk and improves endurance, agility, and explosiveness heading into spring. Players return to outdoor season fitter and more resilient.

  1. Individualized Development

  • Smaller groups and focused training allow coaches to identify specific technical or tactical gaps and create tailored drills and targets for each player—leading to faster, measurable improvement.

  1. Boost Confidence and Competitive Edge

  • Regular coached sessions and internal competitions maintain competitive sharpness, build self-assurance, and enhance composure in tight-game situations.

  1. Smooth Transition to Spring Season

  • Players who participate in winter training adapt more quickly to spring practices and matches, enabling teams to implement more advanced game plans early in the season.

  1. Injury Prevention and Load Management

  • Emphasis on mobility, core strength, and progressive conditioning reduces overuse injuries. Coaches monitor training load to balance development and recovery through winter’s demands.

  1. Team Cohesion and Chemistry

  • Consistent practice time fosters better communication, understanding of teammates’ tendencies, and stronger on-field relationships—key for team success.

  1. Positive Off-Season Routine

  • Provides structure and healthy activity during winter months, reinforcing discipline, routine, and commitment to long-term development.

  1. Exposure to Advanced Coaching Methods

  • Access to current coaching techniques, video analysis, and individual feedback exposes players to best practices that accelerate learning and performance.

Program Outcomes & Measurement

  • Baseline and end-of-program skill assessments (dribbling, passing, shooting accuracy).

  • Fitness benchmarks (short-sprint times, agility tests, endurance measures) where age-appropriate.

  • Coach evaluations documenting technical progress and tactical understanding.

  • Player and parent feedback surveys to track satisfaction and perceived improvement.

Logistics & Enrollment

  • Winter season runs January–March with options for single-session enrollment or full-season commitment.

  • Grouped by age and development level to maximize appropriate challenges and learning.

  • Uniform practice schedules and clear communication on session locations, gear, and cancellation policies.
